Installation guide

Get up and running in under 5 minutes. This guide walks you through installing the plugin, connecting your AI provider, and generating your first post.

Before installing, make sure your WordPress site meets the following minimum requirements:

Step 1 — Install the Plugin

Option A: Upload via WordPress Dashboard (Recommended)
  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  3. In the top-right search bar, type: VybeDraft Post Automator.
  4. Click Install Now, then click Activate.

 

Option B: Upload via FTP / File Manager
  1. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
  2. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top.
  3. Click Choose File and select your vybedraft-post-automator.zip (or vybedraft-post-automator-pro.zip) file.
  4. Click Install Now, then click Activate Plugin.

 

Option C: Upload via FTP / File Manager
  1. Extract the .zip file on your computer.
  2. Upload the vybedraft-post-automator folder to your server at: /wp-content/plugins/
  3. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Installed Plugins and click Activate.
 

Step 2 — Get Your AI API Key

VybeDraft is a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) plugin — you connect directly to your own AI provider account for maximum speed, security, and lowest cost with zero middleman markups. Your keys are stored encrypted in your local WordPress database and never shared with external servers.

Setting up your API key

Step 3 — Configure the Plugin

  1. In your WordPress sidebar, go to Posts → Automator Settings.
  2. Configure the following fields:
  • AI Platform: Select your active provider (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenRouter, or GitHub Models).
  • AI Model: Pick your desired model. Each model displays an estimated generation speed badge:
    • 🟢 Fast (~10–45 sec) — Gemini 2.5 Flash, GPT-4o Mini, Claude 3.5 Haiku
    • 🟠 Medium (~1–2 min) — Gemini Pro, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Qwen, Llama 3.3
    • 🔴 Slow / Reasoning (2–5+ min) — o1, o3-mini, Claude 3.7 Sonnet (Extended Thinking)
  • API Key: Paste the key you generated in Step 2.
  • Default Post Status: Choose whether generated posts default to Save as Draft (recommended for review) or Publish Directly.
  • Default Target Audience: Set a default audience (e.g., “Small business owners, tech enthusiasts, beginners”).
  • Custom Master Prompt: Add global writing rules, formatting guidelines, or language requirements (e.g., “Write all articles in Spanish with a friendly conversational tone and include a FAQ section at the end”).
  1. Click Save Settings.

Step 4 — Generate Your First Post

Single Post Generation
  1. Go to Posts → Post Automator.
  2. Enter a Post Title (e.g., “10 Proven Strategies to Boost E-commerce Conversion Rates”).
  3. (Optional) Featured Image: Upload an image — vision-enabled models will inspect the image context to enrich the article.
  4. (Optional) Post Details: Add key bullet points, product specs, or reference notes you want the AI to include.
  5. (Optional) Post Images: Upload gallery or inline images to embed throughout the post.
  6. (Optional) Target Audience: Override the default audience for this specific post.
  7. (Optional) Publish Date: Pick a future date/time to schedule, or leave blank to save as draft.
  8. (Optional) Categories & Tags: Select or assign categories and tags.
  9. Click Generate Post.

The AI will generate full structured HTML content, headings (H2, H3), bullet points, meta excerpts, and auto-populate SEO focus keywords for Yoast SEO, Rank Math, and AIOSEO.

Bulk Post Generation (Pro Exclusive)
  1. Go to Posts → Bulk Post Automator.
  2. Choose your input method:
    • CSV Upload: Download the template, add titles, keywords, scheduled dates, and upload.
    • Image Drop: Drop multiple image files — the AI automatically generates an article for each image.
  3. Click Start Bulk Generation. All jobs process asynchronously in the background.

Step 5 — Manage & Schedule Posts

VybeDraft Pro includes an unlimited post scheduling calendar.

  1. Go to Posts → Post Scheduler.
  2. View, edit, or delete all upcoming scheduled posts from a single dashboard.
  3. Switch between Calendar View and Table View to preview upcoming publishing dates.
  4. Self-Healing WP-Cron: If your site has low traffic, VybeDraft’s built-in background recovery checker ensures missed schedule events are caught and published on time.
  5. To schedule a single post, simply set a Publish Date in the Post Automator before generating.
  6. For bulk scheduling, include a scheduled_date column in your CSV file.
"API key is not configured"

Make sure you have saved your API key under Posts → Automator Settings for the exact provider currently selected. Ensure there are no accidental spaces before or after the key.

Post generation timed out or failed
  • Check API billing & credits: Ensure your developer account on OpenAI / Anthropic / OpenRouter has available credits and active billing.
  • Switch to a faster model: If your hosting server has low PHP max_execution_time limits (e.g. 30s), switch to a Fast model like Gemini 2.5 Flash or GPT-4o Mini.
SEO focus keywords not appearing

VybeDraft automatically populates focus keywords for Yoast SEO, Rank Math, and All in One SEO (AIOSEO). Ensure one of these plugins is installed and activated.

Image upload requirements
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP.
  • Maximum recommended file size: 4–5 MB. Compress larger images before uploading.
  • Note: Some text-only models (o1, o3, DeepSeek, Qwen, Gemma, Llama 3.3) do not support image input. The plugin will automatically skip image context for these models.
Is my API key shared with VybeDraft?

No. Your API key is stored only in your own WordPress database and is sent directly to your chosen AI provider’s servers. We never receive or store your key.

Can I use multiple AI providers?

Yes — you can switch your active platform and model in Settings at any time. If you use OpenRouter, you can access models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Meta, and Qwen through a single OpenRouter API key.

Is there a post generation limit?

No. VybeDraft Pro has no artificial cap on posts. The only limits are those imposed by your AI provider’s rate limits and account balance.

Can I generate posts in other languages?

Yes. Add a language instruction to your Custom Master Prompt, such as: “Write all blog posts in Spanish.” This applies to every generation, including CSV bulk runs.

Does it slow down my website?

No. VybeDraft runs exclusively inside the WordPress admin and does not load any scripts or styles on your public-facing website. Bulk jobs run in background threads to keep your admin panel responsive.
